After only two weeks, already 10,000 tickets have been sold. Fans around the world, and especially in Latin America, are excepting the band and their new album, that will be released on March 1, right at the same time then the start of their tour.
At both concerts the two national artists Chico Trujillo and Manuel García will be performing with Calle 13. They are some of the leading artists in today’s Chilean music scene.
The Puerto Rican band Calle 13 is composed of step brothers René Perez and Eduardo José Cabra Martínez. Their half-sister Ileana Cabra Joglar is the back-up singer. With an eclectic music style and an unconventional instrumentation, the band is known for satirical lyrics and social commentary about Latin American issues and culture. This is also the case in their latest work, Mulitviral, which they produced with the support of Tom Morello (Guitarist of Rage Against The Machine) and Julian Assanyo (Founder of Wikileaks). Through video clips filmed in Palestine they completed their strong message and choose to fight through their music. Watch the video here:
Calle 13’s message and music is crossing borders and has gained worldwide fame. With 19 Latin Grammys, the band holds the record for the most Latin Grammy Awards that have ever been won. They have also won two American Grammy Awards.
