Yet another team in Brazil has expressed interest in signing Chilean striker Eduardo Vargas, with Flamengo offering a better deal than Gremio or Sao Paulo.

NAPLES, ITALY — Sambafoot reports that Flamengo are now in pole position for signing Eduardo Vargas from Napoli. Like Sao Paulo, Flamengo are offering a loan deal with option to buy.

Flamengo fans may not have such positive memories of “Edu”. During Universidad de Chile’s 4-0 destruction, Vargas scored a double. The Chilean forward powered on to finish the tournament with a record of 11 goals.

The victory over Flamengo was an emblematic step on the path to Copa Sudamericana glory for Universidad de Chile.

At just 23 years of age, Vargas has failed to make an impact in Italy, spending most of his time on the substitute bench.

A change of scenery as well as regular playing time should keep him in the eyes of national coach Jorge Sampaoli. La Roja have struggled to find the back of the net in recent outings, falling to five straight defeats.

It is yet to be seen where the merry-go-round will stop for the signing of Vargas, with all of the offers for the player’s services coming in under the hefty price tag Napoli paid to sign him from the azules.
