VivAlternativa: “5 Things to Do on Friday”
Friday, September 7
MCA Festival — Mind, Body, and Soul
This event is truly monumental, bringing together leaders from all strata of world society.
They will begin with a challenge: to identify tangible routes towards a more human Chile. Naturally, the theme is “2012: Living in Grand Change… A Human Chile is Possible”.
Kicking off Friday afternoon at 3:20 p.m. with opening remarks, the event will feature over 150 different happenings such as “Evolution of consciousness: Where are we now and where are we going?” and “Towards a more sustainable Chile”.
On Saturday and Sunday there are over 60 different events such as discussions and workshops. Saturday will end with a concert performance by Dekavant.
The MCA Festival is located at the Centro Cultural Estacion Mapocho and activities will begin at 3:30 p.m., 11:00 a.m., and 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
The price for the event depends on what you want to do. On Friday it’s 3,500 pesos, while Saturday and Sunday costs 7,000 pesos. Student prices are $2,000 Friday and $3,000 on the weekend days. However, a 3-day pass goes for 10,000 pesos. With the entrance there are no additional fees for anything, including the workshops.
Providencia’s Second Recycling Campaign: Sept. 7, 8, and 9
Do you have any old electronics lying around? Any Chilean friends in the same position? Tell them to bring those items to the mass recycling effort brought to you by the Municipality of Providencia. This means computers, radios, monitors, DVD and CD players, cell phones, or chargers.
The central area will be the amphitheater at Parque Bustamante (At the corner Avenida Francisco Bilbao and Parque Bustamante). Trees will be delivered by CONAF as an example of environmental services. There will also be a collection point for attendees who bring other residual waste items (plastic bottles, tetra-pack, paper, cardboard and glass).
All three days go from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Of course, entrance is free.
There are five other locations:
• Plaza Inés de Suarez (in front of Parque Inés de Suarez)
• Plaza Padre Letelier ( Los Conquistadores with Padre Letelier)
• Plaza de los Molinos (Bellavista with calle del Arzobispo)
• Plaza Las Lilas (Eliodoro Yáñez with Carlos Silva Vildosola)
