Democrats Abroad Chile Seeks Nominations
SANTIAGO — Democrats Abroad-Chile announces a special election at its general meeting on July 8, 2012. All US Democrats abroad in Chile are encouraged to join DA-Chile and participate.
DA-Chile also announces a call for self-nomination for the offices of Co-Chairperson, Treasurer, and Counsel by submitting an email before June 19 to the nomination committee at [email protected].
Bonnie Banks, Co-chair of Democrats Abroad (DA)-Chile, explained to I Love Chile, “Given the national election this November, it is important that DA-Chile’s executive board is complete and ready to help with Obama’s reelection campaign.”
DA-Chile members interested in running for an office in the organization are asked to indicate the position sought (President, Treasure or Counsel), and affirm their US citizenship and membership in the Democratic Party. Please include information explaining qualifications as the best candidate for the position. For the duties of each position, please ask or look online in DA-Chile’s bylaws.
Only the office of the chairperson needs to fit the Democratic Party’s gender balanced regulations. Gentlemen only, please apply as DA-Chile currently has a woman serving as Co-chairperson.
The special election for the Executive Committee vacancies will be held electronically between midnight on June 19, 2012 and 7:30 p.m. July 8, 2012.
DA-Chile members who prefer to vote by mail must petition an absentee ballot from the Nominations Committee ([email protected]) ten days prior to the election.
Members may also vote in person during the general meeting to be held on July 8, 2012 between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Any ballots that arrive after the designated voting time will not be counted.
The voting followed by a general meeting will be held at the following address:
