Caribineros Keeping Chileans Safe for 85 Years

 On Friday, the Chilean Military Police (Carabineros) celebrated their 85th anniversary. President Sebastián Piñera, accompanied by First Lady Cecilia Morel and Interior Minister Rodrigo Hinzpeter, attended a ceremony in its honor.

SANTIAGO – Also present at the ceremony honoring the Carabineros were the presidents of the Senate, Camilo Escalona, and the Chamber of Deputies, Nicolás Monckenberg. Numerous other honored guests and authorities.

Many of the officers expressed their gratitude that the President of the Republic was able to attend the ceremony.

 

 

In the context of the 85th anniversary, an exhibition about the institution was inaugurated and stamps were presented in recognition of their service.

To show appreciation of the of anniversary of the institution, the exhibition entitled “Military Police Yesterday, Today and Always” took place at Plaza de la Constitución.

In the presence of the general director, A. González Jure, they carried out the official inauguration of the exhibition. It represents the work and development of the Carabineros of Chile throughout its history.

The exhibition takes a tour through the history of the institution at the Museo Historical of the military police. It also shows the latest technological progress that they are working with now. The exhibition will be open for visitors on April 25, 26, and 27 at the Plaza de la Constitución, from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Also on the occasion of the anniversary, the military police will print their own postage stamps.

In a ceremony, the general director of the Carabineros, Gustavo González Jure, the current President of the Chilean post, Susana Carey, and the general manager of the Chilean post, Pablo Montané Allende, presented the new stamps. They allude to the history of the Carabineros as a homage to the institution and the work they do every day to keep Chilean citizens safe. The stamps are for sale in the post offices of Correo Chile.
