Earth Day Event Calls for a Red Light to HidroAysén
The cultural event known as Red Light to HidroAysén, was held in front of the Bellas Artes Museum on Sunday afternoon to mark Earth Day.
SANTIAGO – The Earth Day even was organized by “Patagonia Sin Represas” (Patagonia without Dams) and Greenpeace. On April 5, 2012, the Supreme Court rejected an appeal by environmentalist groups, giving a green light to the hydroelectric project, HidroAysén.
The bands Villa Cariño, Difuntos Correa, Legua York, and Newen Afrobeat performed for the gathered crowd. Between songs the crowd chanted “Patagonia without dams,” and “Red light to HydoAysén.”
